Hockley RBL have now completed counting the money collected in Poppy Tins during the Remembrance Period.
Riverside raised the sum of £188.31. A fantastic total, thank your staff, pupils and parents who donated to The Poppy Appeal.
The Central Legion are always interested in feedback from schools so that they can change/improve what is on offer to schools during Remembrance.
You can add and verify your mobile number by following the steps below;
We would like to remind all parents and carers that, for the safety of everyone, children (including younger siblings) are not permitted to ride their bikes or scooters on the school site. Mornings and afternoons are particularly busy, and riding on school grounds presents a serious hazard to others.
Please ensure that your child[ren] dismounts from their bike or scooter before entering the school gates and walks it to the designated racks. At the end of the day, they should collect their bike or scooter and walk it off-site before riding home.
If school staff notice children riding bikes or scooters on site, they will be asked to dismount immediately.
Thank you for helping us keep our school safe and welcoming for all.
If your child takes too much time off school they will become categorised as PA or persistently absent. Missing school will make your child fall behind in lessons and will impact on their academic progress and achievement.
Below is the percentage of children per year group who currently fall into this category. If you are worried about your child’s school attendance, please do not hesitate to contact the school where we can work with you to improve this.

Last Friday the 14 members of the Riverside Netball Club were invited to take part in the Alleyn Court Netball Santa Rally. The sun shone, the Christmas tunes played and the smiles never left the girls’ faces all day!
The Girls played 6 games of netball, as the day went on they showed us how much their skills had come on! We had some amazing goals scored and some brilliant defending. Vienna and Isabel won awards for the best Christmas outfits! Leyla was voted player’s player of the day.
We were so proud of each and everyone of them for their excellent behaviour on and off the court and for the way they supported each other! Well done girls!
If you are having a bit of a clear out before Christmas and are getting rid of any toys for children aged 0-2 could you please consider donating them to school for use in our Penguin Pod.
Thank you
Miss Marshall and Mrs RIce
On Wednesday, 4th December, children from EYFS and KS1 travelled to Alleyn Court to compete in a friendly cross-country event against Alleyn Court, Great Wakering Primary School, West Leigh Infant School, and Thorpe Hall School.
Our children performed magnificently, showing great determination and endurance, especially as the distance was significantly longer than the one run during our previous school event. Out of five races, Riverside children achieved first place in two!
A huge congratulations to Laurel from Year 1 for winning the Year 1 girls’ race and Oliver from Year 2 for winning the Year 2 boys’ race. Your achievements are truly inspiring!
The event also had a festive twist, with the children enjoying a visit from Santa and The Grinch, and we managed to capture a cheeky photo at the end!
A heartfelt thank you to Alleyn Court for hosting, to the parents who came to support, and to our amazing Riverside staff—Mrs Rust, Mrs Williams, and Mrs Rice—for their dedication and encouragement on the day.
Well done, Team Riverside!
Harry A brought extra holiday magic to the Christmas Fayre on November 30th by crafting his very own Plinko Game for the PTA stall! With a sparkle in his eye, he eagerly explained the rules to excited players, guiding them on how to use their tokens to land a prize. The crowd was buzzing with delight, and everyone who tried their luck couldn’t stop raving about the fantastic job he’d done creating such an entertaining and well-made game.
Congratulations to the following Year 3/4 children who have earned their;
Bronze award as they can fluently and rapidly recall the 2,5 and 10 times tables.
Silver award as they can fluently and rapidly recall the 3, 4, 6 and 11 times tables.
Gold award as they can fluently and rapidly recall the 7,8,9 and 12 times tables.
