Important Reminder: No Riding Bikes or Scooters on School Grounds

We would like to remind all parents and carers that, for the safety of everyone, children (including younger siblingsare not permitted to ride their bikes or scooters on the school site. Mornings and afternoons are particularly busy, and riding on school grounds presents a serious hazard to others.

Please ensure that your child[ren] dismounts from their bike or scooter before entering the school gates and walks it to the designated racks. At the end of the day, they should collect their bike or scooter and walk it off-site before riding home.

If school staff notice children riding bikes or scooters on site, they will be asked to dismount immediately.

Thank you for helping us keep our school safe and welcoming for all.

Miss Black

Today, we say a fond farewell to Miss Black as she embarks on new adventures. Since joining us in 2022 as both an LSA and sports coach, Miss Black has been a tremendous support to the team and a wonderful role model for the children. She has worked across many year groups, primarily in UKS2, where she supported our Year 5 and 6 pupils.

Miss Black has been a valued part of numerous residential trips, and we’ll always remember her brilliant Simon Cowell impression during ‘Riverside’s Got Talent,’ as well as her boundless enthusiasm for all our camp games during the annual Year 6 residential. She has also coached several of our football teams, serving as an inspiring role model, especially to the girls, and encouraging many to take up football under her leadership. As an accomplished football player herself, it’s been wonderful to see how her passion has sparked such excitement and interest, particularly among the girls.

Riverside school wishes Miss Black all the very best for the future. She will be greatly missed!

Persistent Absences

If your child takes too much time off school they will become categorised as PA or persistently absent.  Missing school will make your child fall behind in lessons and will impact on their academic progress and achievement.

Below is the percentage of children per year group who currently fall into this category.  If you are worried about your child’s school attendance, please do not hesitate to contact the school where we can work with you to improve this.

Lego Boost: Frankie the Cat

Well done to C in year 3, for demonstrating exceptional dedication and perseverance in building and coding the fourth LEGO Boost model, Frankie the Cat. Your commitment, consistently spending your lunchtimes during Mr. Sage’s club to complete the model, is truly commendable.

Oliver Shines at the ACU Compass Cup Motocross Event!

Over the weekend, Oliver had the incredible honor of competing in the prestigious ACU Compass Cup motocross event, representing his club, PJMC. Out of hundreds of riders across the UK, Oliver was one of only five selected in his class—a remarkable achievement in itself!

The Compass Cup is a highly anticipated annual event, where six clubs from all over the UK compete for the coveted trophy 🏆. Despite challenging weather conditions and a difficult track, Oliver and his team showed unwavering determination throughout the weekend, refusing to give up. The atmosphere was electric, and we felt privileged to be part of such an amazing event.

After many hard-fought battles on the track, PJMC’s hard work paid off as they emerged victorious, winning the Compass Cup! This is a massive achievement, especially considering they were up against some of the top riders in the country.

What an incredible end to a brilliant weekend! Well done, Oliver—you are an absolute superstar 🌟!

Year 4 Egyptian Day
We’re excited to share the highlights from our recent Egyptian Day in Year 4! The children had a fantastic time exploring ancient Egyptian culture through various activities.

The day began with a lively Egyptian dance workshop, where students learned traditional movements and enjoyed expressing themselves through music and dance. Following this, they participated in a hieroglyphs hunt, discovering the fascinating world of ancient writing and its significance.

To wrap up the day, we held a food tasting session featuring traditional Egyptian dishes. The children eagerly tried new flavors and discussed their favorites.

It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and joy on their faces as they engaged in learning and fun.
