Year 5/6 Viking Banquet

On Friday 7th September, the Year 5 and Year 6 students participated in an exciting Viking-themed banquet as part of a WOW start to this half term’s theme of Trader and Raiders. The event was designed to give students a hands-on experience of Viking culture, food, and traditions. The school hall was transformed into a Viking longhouse, and music was played to help to create an authentic atmosphere.

The feast included a traditional Viking-style meal, which was prepared by the amazing kitchen staff, who had researched the food eaten during this period of history.

The Viking banquet was a fantastic opportunity for the children to engage with history in a fun and interactive way. It brought their lessons about the Vikings to life, allowing them to explore not just the facts, but the culture and spirit of this fascinating period. The event was a great success, with students leaving with a deeper understanding of Viking life and a memorable experience to carry forward in their studies.
